Death of a star!

I watched the folks in a jewellery store,
gaping at the gold led before.
They smiled and awed at the shining gold, and wondered why.
Unaware, ignorant of the fact that it once shone brightly in the sky.
In order for us to live,
A star must die!

The sun, the moon, the planets and asteroids,
including  the earth where we reside.
Once shone brightly in the sky.
In order for us to live,
A star must die!

The air we breathe,
the water we drink,
the food we eat,
the clothes we wear,
the life we love,
and the death we fear,
it’s possible because it died.
The things we love each other for
to the gold we kill each other for,
once brightly shone in the sky.
In order for us to live,
a star must die!

A star that lived before us,
brightly shone in the sky.
It still shines brightly, as us,
now that it has died.

In order for us to live,
a star must die!

A star must die!

A star in its final stage.

The earth stood still and the sun went round,  With the blistering moon and the stars all around.  I stood and watched as the smoke surrounds,  I choked to death with people all around.  I woke up.  I sat, silently in the hall  And I tried to recall.  The dream,  What could it possibly mean?  The infinite darkness in the sunlight beam.  Is it destruction’s grand scheme?

Rise

From the darkness Towards the light Rise from the ashes Take the flight Like a phoenix Burning in the night Wash the darkness from off my skin Bring me to light, so I could be akin!!

Independence Day

Every year the same day We celebrate and pray On our independence day Dishes and cakes, we bake Vows and promises, we make All to make fruitful Our hard earned, independence day! Once again comes the auspicious day We prepare for all we do, all we may But let's not do all the same This time, let's play a different game The wars of lands & countries are long gone And what's been done cannot be undone So let's forget about countries now And think about our 'planet' this time! PS - though written on the occasion of India's independence day, it isn't just for "Indians"
